Simulation of supersonic flow (Mach number 1.45) around the SpaceX Dragon during atmospheric re-entry using ANSYS CFX software. The Dragon is a reusable spacecraft developed by SpaceX. Originally designed to deliver both cargo and crew to orbiting destinations, it has so far only been used to deliver cargo to the International Space Station (ISS). The mesh used for this simulation consists of approximately 17 million cells. The SST turbulence model is used. A simplified version of the CFX simulation file (mesh: 1.6 million cells, RNG k–ε turbulence model) is also attached for download.
