About the Ship Hull CFD Transient Simulation with Fluent Project
Heave and pitch simulation example of ship hull moving through head sea waves using Ansys Fluent is performed. Volume of fluid or VOF model is used to solve this open channel flow example. In this example shallow waves are generated using open channel wave boundary condition whereas motion of wigley hull is modeled using dynamic mesh. Motion is restricted to 4 degrees of freedom (DOF) using user defined function (UDF).To avoid the numerical reflections (non physical results/wave reflections) at the outlet, numerical beach option is used. Fluent case file is also included for download.
