About the LES vs SAS vs RNG Turbulence Model Comparison in Bubble Column CFD Study Project
In this bubble column simulation study turbulence models namely LES, SAS (Scale-Adaptive Simulation) and RNG (Re-Normalisation Group) are compared. Total time of simulation is 200 s with time step size of 0.005 s. CFD results are comprised of the Euler–Euler method of ANSYS CFX. Here bubbles are not individually considered, rather the dispersed phase is ensemble averaged. Scale adaptive simulation was able to capture detailed bubbly flow (bubble plume) similar to LES. Based on scale adaptive simulation of bubble column flows by Masood et al.
