CFD is nowadays considered to be a highly valuable must-have tool in the storage tanks water quality investigations. CFD simulations can predict among other things the flow and concentration fields in water storage tanks. Here CFD modeling was applied to model flow and concentration field of a tracer within a 3D rectangular water tank. In order to model turbulence, the two-equation k-ε model was used. The transport of a tracer inside the tank was modeled using advection-diffusion equation.
