About the CFD Simulation of Intraventricular Hemodynamics Project
Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) analysis with moving boundaries to investigate intraventricular flows within a patient-specific framework. Utilizing real-time transesophageal echocardiographic images, the CFD simulation incorporates the entire left ventricle and the dynamic 3D mitral valve. The motion of these structures, determined as a time-dependent function from segmented ultrasound images, is applied as a boundary condition within an Arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian framework. Attached images and animation offer insights into intraventricular flow patterns and emphasizes the crucial role of the 3D mitral valve apparatus in vortex dynamics and apical flow regulation. The images, animation and data used here are adapted from the work of: A. Bavo, A. Pouch, J. Degroote, J. Vierendeels, J. Gorman, R. Gorman, P.
