About the Forward Facing Step simulation using ANSYS CFX Project
2D transient simulation of incompressible air flow over forward facing step (FFS) is performed using ANSYS CFX. For turbulence Shear Stress Transport (SST) model is used. Structured mesh after doing mesh study with just over 3.3 Million elements is employed with refinement on FFS and near-by area. Total simulation time is 0.54s with a time step of 1e-5. For boundary conditions (BC) at inlet velocity profile is used. For outlet pressure outlet BC is used whereas on top and bottom no slip wall BC is employed. Front and back sides are selected as periodic BC's.
