About the Augmented Reality Rendering on the real model of a transient (URANS) CFD Simulation of a BMW Z3 Project
This project is about the "in-situ" Rendering of a transient simulation in Augmented Reality. The frames of the time dependent simulations are projected on the real car model (a toy model bought in a toy store, for very obvious economic reasons). This project is a refetch of a RANS simulation, just changed the settings from steady to transient in Star CCM+. The focus of this project in not the CFD Simulation but the capability of Augmenting the Reality with CFD results. Cross section of velocity and vorticity are shown as well as streamlines and vorticity iso-surfaces (160 s-1). Specific routines developed in the Unity 3D game engine allow the frames to be animated and correctly overlap the shape of real model from any angle and perspective. The Augmented Reality SDK is Vuforia and the device used for the visualization is a Samsung Galaxy S4 smartphone. Video avalable at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tAcRX7S7DDQ
